NABD Completes Buy Here, Pay Here Boot Camp!

HOUSTON, TEXAS – The National Alliance of Buy Here Pay Here Dealers (NABD) today announced the successful completion of its inaugural BHPH Boot Camp in North Carolina. The boot camp training was conducted at the operations of iCars (in Monroe, North Carolina, just outside of Charlotte), which is owned and operated by Ingram Walters. “This allowed attendees to attend classroom training and to receive in-the-field training at one of the nation’s best operations!” said Ken Shilson, CPA who also instructed at the Boot Camp.

The program featured a complete tour of the entire iCars operation and included individual training sessions with each attendee. The “sold out” program was presented to twenty attendees from ten dealerships around the U.S. with varying levels of BHPH experience. Shilson indicated that several attendees had more than ten years of experience in BHPH which favorably influenced networking and discussions.

The boot camp training covered all areas of BHPH operations from building a successful business model to acquiring and reconditioning vehicles, good underwriting and collection practices, prudent financial management and monitoring, and maximizing recoveries. All attendees received projection modeling software, complete policies and procedures and human resources manuals, and several other resource materials including legal and compliance materials supplied by Hudson & Cook, LLP; sample pay plans; a reconditioning plan and much more.

“For a very modest investment, attendees received invaluable training and resource materials which can help make them more successful,” Shilson said. “The opportunity to see iCars and receive some southern hospitality from Ingram and his family was a really special experience,” Shilson said.

For attendees who were unable to participate in the August sessions, the next boot camp is planned for January 12-13, 2013 – also in Monroe, North Carolina at iCars. NABD also announced it will hold its East Coast BHPH Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on October 21-23, 2012.
